Population
Served 
The target population
is boys and girls ages 6 through 18 who live within the state of Alabama
and are in need of shelter care. Children with the following issues cannot
be accepted: adjudicated delinquent; seriously emotionally or physically
ill; needing drug or alcohol treatment; pregnant or have children; sexually
aggressive; violent; or chronic runaways.
Length
of Stay
The length of stay
is thirty days or until the child can be safely returned home or transitioned
into long-term residential care.
Program
Features
Twenty-four hour awake
supervision is provided in a secure, supportive, nurturing family setting
which provides food, clothing, toiletries, furnishings, and recreational
items for the children.

The following services
are provided as appropriate by Alabama Sheriffs' Youth Ranches' Staff
(licensed social workers and/or trained care givers) or through collaboration
with community resources: case management; counseling; education; medical
and dental care; transportation; independent living skills training; and
recreational activities.
